Abbot - Ven. Dr. Bodagama Chandima Nayaka Thero

Manelwatta Temple was given by J. R. Jayawardhana  late President of Sri Lanka to Ven. Kandakkulame Dhammakitti Nayaka Thero. He gave it to Ven. Dr. Bodagama Chanidma Nayaka Thero in 2003.


He have developed this temple very soon. In 2011 he started a diploma academy for Bhikkhunis. Since he got this temple he have built replica of Kapilawasthu palace, Ashokan Pillar, Isipatanaramaya as in India previous. And he have built a Sima malaka also to recite the rules and regulations (Uposatha karma) for Mahasangha. Many International and National activities have done in Manelwatta Temple. Like, giving alms giving to nuns,
Interculture and Interfaith for Peace Dialogue, Kapilawastu Sacred Buddha Relic Exhibition at Manelwatta Temple, World Peace Blessing Ceremony etc. Now on it is building Nagananda International Buddhist University at Manelwatta Temple.
